My Psychotherapeutic Philosophy

There are many approaches to psychotherapy. I have drawn upon my diverse training in both the traditional analytical and the nontraditional expressive-arts methodologies to create a cohesive, effective, solution oriented form of therapy.

I use traditional psychotherapy to examine conscious and unconscious motivations, as revealed through analysis of the client's dreams and discussions. I use various elements of expressive arts psychotherapy (poetry, writing, music, painting, breathing and tension-release exercises) to observe and evaluate a client without being dependent upon the use of talk (with all its frustrating limitations and potential for misunderstanding).

By combining the best of both of these methodologies, I have developed an innovative form of therapy that heightens a client's awareness of patterns of behavior that interfere with realizing the full potential of the client's love and work lives.

I am an empathic, supportive listener, offering solution-oriented feedback in an atmosphere conducive to sharing one's deepest concerns.

Where my services do not meet the needs of a client, I will provide information and referral services to alternate treatment facilities.
